What is Kerendia 10 mg?

Kerendia 10 mg is a prescription tablet for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) linked to type‑2 diabetes. Finerenone 10 mg is the active ingredient in this medication. It helps lower the chance of the kidneys getting worse and also reduces heart problems like heart failure or heart attack. It is not a diuretic. It works on hormone receptors that push inflammation and scarring inside the kidney and heart.

How Kerendia 10 mg Works?

1. Kerendia 10 mg contains finerenone, a non‑steroidal, selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist.
2. This blocks mineralocorticoid receptors (MR) in kidneys, heart, and blood vessels, reducing aldosterone-driven inflammation and fibrosis.
3. This prevents tissue scarring and inflammation, slowing kidney damage and improving cardiovascular condition.

Uses

Adults with:

• CKD stages 1–4 (but not on dialysis) with type‑2 diabetes and albumin in urine.
• Progression to kidney failure or dialysis
• Potassium (K⁺) level at start must be ≤5.0 mEq/L.
• Reduces the chances of cardiovascular death, heart attacks, and hospitalization for heart failure

Dose & how to take

The starting dose depends on the kidney filter rate (eGFR) and potassium. Many start at 10 mg once daily. Some with better kidney function may start kerendia 20 mg. The doctor then adjusts after the lab reports.

Missed dose

If same day, take when you remember. Next day already? skip the old one. Never double or overdose.
