What is Natzold Infusion 5mg/100 mL?

Natzold Infusion is a medication prescribed to protect and strengthen bones. Each 100 mL infusion contains zoledronic acid. It is third-generation nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate produced by Natco Pharma Ltd. Zoledronic acid is a potent inhibitor of osteoclast-mediated bone resorption by blocking osteoclast activity, and it slows down bone turnover so that bone-forming cells can rebuild healthy bone.

Uses and benefits

Natzold is used to treat or prevent osteoporosis caused by menopause, long-term steroid use, or hormonal changes. It reduces complications from cancer that has spread to the bone, and controls malignancy-related hypercalcaemia. Intravenous zoledronic acid is also approved to prevent skeletal-related events such as pathological fractures, spinal compression, or tumour-induced hypercalcaemia in people with advanced cancer. By reducing bone loss, Natzold can improve bone mineral density and lower the risk of fractures.
