Description

What is Asporelix 0.25 mg injection?

Asporelix 0.25mg Injection is related to the category of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Antagonists. It is used in the treatment of infertility in females. Asporelix 0.25 mg is an injection that is prescribed to women in IVF treatment who are under getting treated under fertility treatment (controlled ovarian stimulation). It contains the active ingredient Cetrorelix 0.25 mg. During the IVF process, the ovaries are stimulated with hormones like Fsh and Hmg. This injection prevents the release of an egg, called ovulation. Ovulation is the process by which a woman’s ovaries release an egg for fertilization. Premature ovulation can lead to the loss of stimulated eggs.

Uses

  • Prescribed during IVF to prevent premature ovulation of the follicles.

How does it work?

Asporelix 0.25 mg injection contains the active ingredient cetrorelix acetate. It is usually used in combination with other hormones (FSH and hMG). Doctors prescribe this medication specifically for women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. The medication belongs to a class of drugs called GnRH antagonists. Asporelix 0.25 mg works by directly blocking the body’s natural gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). This blocking action prevents a sudden surge of luteinizing hormone (LH). Preventing the LH surge stops premature ovulation from happening. It keeps the developing eggs safely within the ovarian follicles.

How to use?

Patients are given Asporelix 0.25 mg alongside other fertility medications like FSH or hMG. FSH and hMG stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple follicles. The injection protects the maturing follicles from early release. Treatment typically starts a few days after FSH or hMG injections begin. Doctors continue the injection daily until the ovarian follicles reach the optimal size. This careful timing allows for a planned egg retrieval procedure. This means a woman will have 4-6 days of use of this injection before the egg retrieval. Once the egg is stimulated, it is fertilized and implanted into the uterus.

Side effects

There are some common side effects of this injection site reaction (redness, itching, and irritation), nausea, and vomiting. Irritation at the injection site, use a different part of the belly to inject to prevent bruising.

Other Information

The injection is injected directly into the skin under the observation of a doctor. And before starting the procedure, discuss with a doctor if you have any allergy-related issues from any other medicines & if you are taking any medicines for any other illness.
