What is Natzold Infusion 5mg/100 mL?

Natzold Infusion is a medication prescribed to protect and strengthen bones. Each 100 mL infusion contains zoledronic acid. It is third third-generation nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate produced by Natco Pharma Ltd. Zoledronic acid is a potent inhibitor of osteoclast-mediated bone resorption by blocking osteoclast activity, and it slows down bone turnover so that bone-forming cells can rebuild healthy bone.

Uses and benefits

Natzold is used to treat or prevent osteoporosis caused by menopause, long-term steroid use, or hormonal changes. It reduces complications from cancer that has spread to the bone, and controls malignancy-related hypercalcaemia. Intravenous zoledronic acid is also approved to prevent skeletal-related events such as pathological fractures, spinal compression, or tumour-induced hypercalcaemia in people with advanced cancer. By reducing bone loss, Natzold can improve bone mineral density and lower the risk of fractures.

How to store

Natzold infusion should be stored in a refrigerator at 15 °C to 25 °C and must not be frozen. It is supplied in single-use 100 mL infusion vials and should only be administered under medical supervision in a hospital or clinic. Avoid smoking and heavy alcohol consumption during therapy, as these can further weaken bone.
