Utreva gel is a vaginal 8% progesterone gel. It contains the progesterone 8%.  The hormone is produced by the ovaries in women. It helps in regulating ovulation and the menstruation cycle in women. Utreva progesterone gel belongs to the category of medicines known as female hormones used to treat female infertility and to support pregnancy.

Uses in pregnancy

Many doctors prescribe the gel in order to restore the menstrual cycle in women who have missed their periods. Utreva gel induces changes in the endometrium lining of the uterus, relaxing the organ, blocking the maturation and release of follicles, and maintaining pregnancy. Progesterone is an essential hormone and increases the progesterone level in the body.

How it works

The women’s body needs progesterone to hold a pregnancy. This hormone gets the womb lining ready for a fertilised egg. It also keeps that lining thick and steady in the early weeks.

When your own levels are low, the gel adds more. The progesterone enters the body through the vaginal wall. This keeps the womb settled so the pregnancy has a better chance to continue.

How to use Utreva gel?

Utreva gel is required to be inserted into the vagina. Before starting the process, wash your hands and dry it. Open the gel and lie down.

  1. Once you lie down, insert the gel applicator gel in your vagina once a day for progesterone supplementation.
  2. Push the applicator and empty the gel into the vagina.
  3. Keep lie down on your back for at least 10 minutes and let the vagina absorb it properly.

It is mostly prescribed to support early pregnancy to ensure a healthy pregnancy and to prevent miscarriage.
