Description
What is Fempro 2.5 mg?
Fempro is a small yellow tablet. The active ingredient in Letroze is Letrozole 2.5 mg, mostly given to post‑menopausal women. It helps treat breast cancer that feeds on estrogen. Sometimes uses is used in treating infertility (ovulation induction). The medication belongs to a group called aromatase inhibitors. It blocks the enzyme that makes estrogen in body fat. Less estrogen = less cancer cell growth. The cancer progression slows down. Reducing cancer cells’ growth. In some cases, it is prescribed after radiology and surgery (to remove cancer cells).
How does it work?
After menopause, ovaries almost stop making estrogen. But the body still produces a tiny amount of androgens using aromatase enzyme. Letrozole stops aromatase enzyme. Estrogen level drops 80‑90%. Tumor cells that depend on estrogen cannot grow freely. Therefore reducing the cancer cells load in the tissues.
Uses
- Post‑menopausal women with hormone receptor positive (ER+/PR+) early breast cancer after surgery/radiation as adjuvant therapy (usually 5 years).
- Advanced or metastatic HR+ breast cancer, first line or after tamoxifen failure.
- Infertility/PCOS ovulation induction (short 5‑day course).
Dose & how to take
Cancer use: 2.5 mg once daily. Same time. With or without food. Swallow whole. Treatment may last 5 years or longer (some go 7–10 years based on your condition).
Fertility use (only if doctor prescribes): usually 2.5–5 mg daily for 5 days starting day 2 or 3 of cycle. Ultrasound monitoring needed. Do NOT mix both indications by yourself.
Missed dose? If you remember within 12 hours, take it. If next day is already, skip missed. No double doses.

Who should not take it?
- Women who still menstruate (unless ovaries are suppressed).
- Pregnant or trying to conceive (except controlled ovulation protocol). It can harm a fetus.
