What is Zoldonat 4mg Injection?
Zoldonat 4mg Injection contains zoledronic acid as its active ingredient. It is given as a slow drip into a vein, usually in a hospital or clinic. This medicine belongs to a group called bisphosphonates. Bisphosphonates work directly on bones.
What is Zoldonat 4mg Injection used for?
Zoldonat 4mg is used to treat bone problems linked to cancer. It helps patients whose cancer has spread to the bones, causing pain and damage. It is also used when calcium levels in the blood get dangerously high because of cancer. This condition is called hypercalcaemia.
Uses include
- Bone damage caused by cancer that has spread (bone metastases)
- High calcium levels in the blood caused by cancer
- Multiple myeloma
- Osteoporosis in some patients, including those on long-term steroid treatment
How does Zoldonat 4mg Injection work inside the body?
Bones are constantly being broken down and rebuilt. In cancer patients, the breakdown side speeds up. Zoledronic acid slows down the cells that break bones apart. This reduces bone pain and lowers the risk of fractures.
It also pulls calcium back into the bones. This brings high calcium levels in the blood down to a safer range.
Side effects
Flu-like symptoms in the first 24 to 48 hours after the infusion are very common. These usually pass on their own.
